Envisaged as being “The Flower” of the surrounding development, the design of the mosque was developed from the patterns of the tropical ginger flower used by Malaysians in popular dishes. The geometrical shapes, layered with coloured patterns, and the infusion of natural lighting through the dome’s celestory windows that washed over the interior of the building, convey the changing of the exterior lighting. In the evening, the lighting of the interior shines outwards through the celestory windows symbolising a night lantern and a beacon to guide travellers to a safe haven perceived as a “living” mosque.
