THE AERIAL MUMBAI

White and clear acrylic with lighting
300 x 300 x 620mm (H)

The layouts of the apartment units are mirrored and flipped on alternate
levels creating an interlocking composition on the façades of the narrow
64-storey tower, to counter the monotony of the usual stacking of units in
a residential building. Deep balconies provide sun-shading and form semioutdoor
terraces that bring in a sense of the outdoors and commanding
views of the Indian Ocean. Sliding timber screens at the balconies break the
seasonal winds and rains. The more closed service façade towards the city is
expressed as a solid punctuated wall while serving as a stiffening structural
brace for the slim tower.
