COMMISSIONER

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) is proud to collaborate with the Malaysian Institute of Architects (Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia – PAM) in Malaysia’s inaugural participation at the 12th International Architecture Exhibition, of the Biennale Di Venezia.

This exhibition catalogue is a document that will showcase and record for posterity the works of the first group of Malaysian Architects who have decided to embark on this new chapter of the Malaysian architectural profession. The diversity, richness, creativity and insights into the workings of the Malaysian Architects are now recorded and we are positive there will be more in the future.

MATRADE and PAM will collaborate with Malaysian Universities (University Technology Malaysia, University Malaya and University Putra Malaysia) through their Mobility Programme for students from the respective Schools of Architecture, to assist at the Malaysian Pavilion during the exhibition. This opportunity will also expose the students to talks on architecture by renown speakers, interactions with visitors to the Malaysian Pavilion and to the works by other foreign exhibitors as the Exhibition is the Meeting Place for thousands of the world’s most influential architecture, design, and visual arts fraternity. This collaboration is one of the promotional activities that MATRADE is undertaking as part of our promotion of the export of services.

On behalf of MATRADE, I would like to congratulate PAM for realising this milestone debut of Malaysia’s participation in the 12th International Architecture Exhibition, La Biennale Di Venezia together with MATRADE. My appreciation also goes to the whole team from MATRADE and PAM who have worked tirelessly to make this exhibition and catalogue a reality: to present a composition of Malaysia’s architectural scene to a world-wide audience.
